Found a strand of hair on my pillowcase A button lyin’ on the floor Put it in a safe place just in case An envelope in the snow Outside my back door Had a passport photo inside Had a laugh and I almost cried She’s leavin’ for London I wonder why I wonder if she’s comin’ back She’s not from here, she’s not from there Just a dust speck in the air One of the lost people in the world She took her uniform From a closet where it rested three days Made her goodbye short and sweet Ran to a taxi waiting in the rain Now every plane that flies over head Is like a perfume I can’t forget Returning someday, like an umbrella left behind She’s leavin’ for London I wonder why I wonder if she’s comin’ back She’s not from here, she’s not from there Just a dust speck in the air One of the lost people in the world I’m driving to Seattle tonight Me and the rain and the wipers and the headlights A postcard dropped through the slot Had some palm trees and a white sand beach A deep blue sky ands a turquoise sea And some words on the back written hastily Said she’s down there for about a week Just takin’ it easy Had to fly out again on Friday Post marked from an airport in Bangkok She’s leavin’ for London I wonder why I wonder if she’s comin’ back She’s not from here, she’s not from there Just a dust speck in the air One of the lost people in the world

about

Two songwriters, Mark Branscombe and Bill Oliver living in East Vancouver Canada, got together after a lengthy absence to rekindle the creative stew and come up with some new songs. A spark appeared and this offering is what manifested after several months of stray thoughts in traffic, pieces of dreams, overheard conversations on city buses, more that a few rewrites and the stirring of cool new creative juices over a coffee table.
Their intent was to create songs that meandered through the music sounds and genres that had excited them as kids and had inspired them to begin playing music.
A chance meeting with producer P.D. Wohl proved to be fateful in allowing their muse to be channelled into this collection of songs
